A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 14, at 11 am at Franklin Township Cemetery in Cooper for Thelma Lykke, 103, of Jefferson, formerly of Cooper.
Thelma Lykke was born August 7, 1919, in Hamlin, Audubon County. She was the daughter of George and Mildred (Kopaska) Beers. Thelma attended school in Audubon County, Greeley Township.
In February of 1938, Thelma moved to Bagley. She married Arnold Lykke on June 14, 1939. They became the parents of one daughter, Ronda.
Thelma was a homemaker. She helped her husband Arnold on the farm, and she cleaned homes in Jefferson. They moved to Cooper in February of 1980. Then Thelma helped Arnold with the Jefferson Consignment business. Arnold passed away April 13, 1996. Thelma then moved to Greenewood Homes in Jefferson in July of 1998.
Thelma was a member of the Exira Christian Church, and then became a member of the Methodist Church in Bagley, where she served as secretary, treasurer, for the Sunday school for over 20 years. Later, Thelma belonged to the Cooper Methodist Church.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister Evelyn Wheeler.
She is survived by her daughter Ronda Thomas of Ogden; grandsons Jeremy (Danelle) Arveson of Blanchard, OK, and Bradley (Stephanie) Johnston of Madrid; great-grandchildren Steven, Breann, Noah, Elijah, and Madelyn; sisters Kathleen Bostwick of Des Moines, Delores Bulls of Temple, TX, and Eunice Myers of Jefferson; other relatives; and friends.
